{RECIPE} Salmon Snack Bites for Dogs AND Cats
Yesterday was our cat Tiger's birthday, so in honour of the occasion we are sharing a treat recipe that can be enjoyed by both cats and dogs (including smaller breeds). Tiger is a finicky old fellow about food, and generally prefers to stick with the (store bought) food and treats that he loves best. These salmon-scented snack bites were tempting enough to convince to share a treat with his dog "brothers" who happily took advantage of the fact that there were plenty of treats in the batch for everyone to enjoy.

Easy DIY Dog Party Cracker
Here is the final share from Humphrey's first birthday! Humphrey enjoys helping with the recycling of all varieties, but he has a particular fondness for toilet paper rolls. On his birthday, I made two very simple "party cracker" inspired treat tubes (one for each dog - nobody wants a birthday fight!). These are a fun little novelty to add to a doggy celebration (I think we will make them for New Year's!).

There is something about a nice tall layer cake that really makes it feel like a special celebration, isn't there? The smell of meat cooking in the kitchen is a really exciting event for our dogs. For personal reasons, I converted to a vegetarian diet some time ago and
hubby also limits his consumption, so meat isn't usually on the menu unless we are cooking for guests or (of course) the pampered pets. Since I wanted this cake to be more of an indulgent birthday dinner than a dessert, I opted to make it meaty - much to the joy and delight of my salivating sous-chefs.

Humphrey's First Birthday (Sneak Peek)
Our baby is (almost) all grown up! Humphrey celebrated his first birthday in style last week, along with his adopted "brothers", Oli (who has done a great job of mentoring and tolerating a puppy!) and Tiger (with whom he has reached a cautious truce). It is hard to believe that he was ever quite this small:
